Multi-language (locale) Support
In addition to English there is now built-in support for German, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Dutch. An instructor can choose a “locale” for a specific course via Control Panel—Course Options—Settings-- Set LocaleThere are two options:
- Locale: Select the locale that will be used for materials, announcements, and discussion
- Enforce Locale: Enforcing the locale will cause buttons, titles, and other text supplied by the system to appear in the locale above, overriding student locales. Check the Enforce Locale box if you do not want your students to be able to choose their locales.

If allowed by an instructor, a student can also choose a locale via My Blackboard –Personal Information —Set Locale as illustrated below.

NOTE: Changing a locale will only change the built-in text and system messages in Blackboard – it is not a translator, so documents or text posted in English in Blackboard will remain in English.
