Linking to E-Reserves
Documents placed on Perkins e-reserve are automatically linked to Blackboard. The link appears as one of the course navigational items, in the course menu on the left hand side of your Bb site.
The first step in this process is to submit your reserves to the library in the usual way (visit the Guidelines for Submitting Reserve Materials.) Reserves will be processed as always, and will appear on the library reserves site. Within 2 business days after the reserves are available, a link to them will appear in Blackboard.
If you submitted your reserves over a week ago and haven't been contacted by Library or Blackboard staff, yet don't see a link to your reserves in Bb, please first contact the Library reserves staff to verify that they have been processed. The Library staff resolve the problem or will direct you to the OIT Help Desk for resolution (684-2200).
To move the menu item in Bb, go to Control Panel > Manage Course Menu, and re-order the E-reserves item into the appropriate position using the pull-down ordering menus on the left.
To put the e-reserves link elsewhere in your site, go to Control Panel > Manage Course Menu, and click Modify beside the E-reserves menu item. Copy the URL in the Target box. Create a new content item (external link type) wherever you want your link to be, and paste the URL from the menu there. Later, remove the navigational menu link to E-reserves if you wish.
To link to an article in one of Duke Libraries' full-text databases:
- Follow the Libraries' instructions for linking to full-text articles
Note: not all databases allow linking and directions vary for those that do. - Retrieve the article's URL according to the directions
- Using that URL, link to that Web page from your Blackboard course site
