Basic Configuration
Select your Course
Click on the course site you need to configure. If your course site does not appear in the “My Courses” box, submit a Blackboard course site request or contact the Center for Instructional Technology (via web form or phone 919-660-5806.
As an instructor (or teaching assistant), you have access to a course site’s Control Panel. The Control Panel is not available to students in your course and contains many important features used to develop and manage your site.

Add or Remove Course Menu Items (A)
Add or Remove Users (B)As an instructor, you can add Teaching Assistants, students, and course builder to your course site. Please note all students enrolled in a course are automatically registered as users for that course's Blackboard site approximately two weeks before the semester begins.
To add a user, click on Enroll User in the User Management area of the control panel. Once a user has been located, check the “Add” box and click submit. The user now has access to your course site as a default “student” role.
To remove a use, click Remove User from Course in the User Management box of the control panel. Once the user has been located, click the “Remove” box and click submit.
To change the role of a user, click on List/Modify Users in the User Management box of the control panel. You can change the role of a user to Course Builder, Grader, Guest, Instructor, Student, or Teaching Assistant. Find the user and click on the “Properties” button. Update the information for the user and click submit.
Post Announcements (C)
In the Control Panel within the Course Tools area, click Announcements. Click the “Add Announcement” button. Complete the announcement information on the next page and click submit.
Add a Syllabus (D)
You have the choice to upload your existing MS Word or PDF format syllabus to a Content Area as you upload a regular file to a content item. Or you can choose the Syllabus Builder, the Bb 6.3 new feature to create a syllabus.
Make the Course Site Available (E)
In the Control Panel within the Course Options area, click Settings. Click on Course Availability. Click yes to make the course available. You can also make the Blackboard site unavailable at the end of your course by returning to this page and clicking "No".
Please note –your students cannot access the course until you make it available.
