Basic Course Settings
After you've made your course available, you can set more advanced options in your course and start using it for course activities. Here are some of the most common settings you might change and activities you can try in your course.Changing the appearance of your course site
Course Menu style and color
Choose a navigation menu style and color in your course by going to Control Panel > Settings > Course Menu Design > Course Design. Select a Button or Text based menu and a color scheme and click Submit.
Add a banner
Add a banner or custom graphic to your Announcements page by going to Control Panel > Settings > Course Design > Course Banner.
Note: You must first create this image using an image editor such as Photoshop, or download a free image from the Web. The image must be a JPEG or GIF that is displayable in a web browser.
Create an announcement
Announcements can be used in your site for a "welcome" message to students or for reminders of assignments or events related to your course. With a simple click of a check box, the Announcement will be emailed to all the students in addition to being posted on your course site. To add an Announcement, go to the Control Panel and click Announcements on the left side of the screen under Course Tools.
Then, click Add Announcement.
On the screen that appears, enter the text for the Announcement and a date range for displaying it. If you click the Yes option for Permanent Announcement?, the text will be permanently displayed in the Announcements section of your course site. Click Submit to create the Announcement.
Make you course available to students
Once you have made your course look the way that you want and are ready for students to see the site, you need to make your course available to students.
