Deleting a Course

To make a course site unavailable

To make a course site unavailable is to "hide" the course from the view of enrolled students and other participants and from the Blackboard course catalog. Though unavailable, the course still exists with all its content.

Instructors and teaching assistants can still access and modify a course that is unavailable.

Make a course site unavailable by following these instructions:

• Open the Control Panel
• Under Course Options, select Settings
• Click Course Availability

Select No to make the course unavailable to users.

 
 
Note: An unavailable course will not be removed from instructors' or teaching assistants' My Blackboard pages, but it will be marked as "Unavailable."

Delete a Course Site

The Center for Instructional Technology recommends making course sites unavailable instead of deleting them, since deletion is irreversible.

To delete a course site, submit a help request indicating the course site to be deleted.
