Archiving a Course
To archive a course with online interactions (discussion board postings, grades, etc.):
The archive process in Blackboard will create a ZIP file containing all the documents uploaded to the course site as well as all course interactions. To use the entire archive in a new Blackboard course, you need to contact the Blackboard administrators to restore the ZIP file to the new site for you.
- Go to Control Panel > Archive Course.
- Click Submit.
- Click the link that says Click here to download the generated package file.
- Click OK.
To archive without course interactions (export a course):
A Blackboard course "archive" that contains just the content items and not the student interactions (grades, submitted assignments, discussion board postings, etc.) is called a course export. Similar to archiving, exporting creates a ZIP file that can be imported back into Blackboard later on. To learn more about importing a course, see the instructions on Copying Content).
- Go to Control Panel > Export Course.
- Check the boxes next to the content you wish to save.
- Click Submit.
- Click the link that says Click here to download the generated package file.
- Click OK.
