E-Reserves
Documents placed on Perkins E-Reserve are automatically linked to Blackboard. The link appears as one of the course navigational items, in the course menu on the left side of your Blackboard site.
The first step in this process is to submit your reserves to the library in the usual way (visit the Guidelines for Submitting Reserve Materials). Reserves will be processed as usual and will appear on the library reserves site. Within two business days after the reserves become available, a link to them will appear in Blackboard.
If you submitted your reserves over a week ago and haven't been contacted by Library or Blackboard staff, yet don't see a link to your reserves in Blackboard, please first contact the Library reserves staff to verify that they have been processed. The Library staff will resolve the problem or will direct you to the OIT Service Desk for resolution (919-684-2200).
To move the menu item in Blackboard, go to Control Panel > Manage Course Menu, and move the E-Reserves item into the appropriate position using the drop-down ordering menus on the left.
To put the E-Reserves link elsewhere in your site, go to Control Panel > Manage Course Menu, and click Modify next to the E-Reserves menu item. Copy the URL in the Target box. Create a new content item (external link type) wherever you want your link to be, and paste the URL there. Later, remove the navigational menu link to E-Reserves if you wish.
To link to an article in one of Duke Libraries' full-text databases:
- Follow the Libraries' instructions for linking to full-text articles.
Note: not all databases allow linking and directions vary for those that do. - Retrieve the article's URL according to the directions.
- Using that URL, link to that Web page from your Blackboard course site.
