Known issues in Blackboard 6.3
Status Priority Title Symptom Notes Resolved High "Browser Cookies Disabled" When using a browser bookmark to navigate to the Blackboard web site, you see the error message "Browser Cookies Disabled". This message is encountered even when your browser is configured correctly and cookies are not disabled. A Blackboard,Inc. provided solution to this issue was implemented. User Configurable Medium Slow response after logging on to Blackboard There is a "What's New" module which is available by default in the My Blackboard tab, what you first see after logging on. The "What's New" module is designed to show changes to your Blackboard course sites since your last log in. Things like new documents or assignments that have been posted are examples. However, this module can significantly delay the display of the My Blackboard page. A user can make the module disappear from the My Blackboard page (and bring it back at a later time) by clicking the "Modify Content" link in the upper right of the My Blackboard page and then unclicking the "What's New" checkbox. Workaround (see notes)

The Visual Text Box Editor does not work for Internet Explorer 7 users The two workaround options include using the Mozilla Firefox browser or disabling the Visual Text Box Editor within Blackboard: Go to My Blackboard -> Personal Information -> Set Visual Text Box Editor Options. Links to Blog and Wiki Tools are missing.
If an instructor has created a link to the Blog or Wiki tool in their Course Menu, these links are now missing. Links to the Blog and/or Wiki tools must be added again by going to Control Panel -> Manage Course Menu -> Tool Link. Select either the Blog Tool or Wiki Tool from the dropdown menu and type in a Name. Click Submit and OK. Open Low Assignment tool, previewing as instructor If an instructor creates an Assignment and makes the Assignment unavailable to students, the instructor does not have a way to preview the Assignment before it is made available. The workaround is to temporarily make the Assignment available, review it, and make it unavailable again No resolution in site. We will continue to monitor the situation. Workaround Available (see notes) Low Making an item available in the future If you set an item to be available at a future date by using the setting "Choose date and time restrictions" and "Display After" checkbox checked, Blackboard does not save your setting if you try to deselect the "Display After" checkbox. You might need to deselect the checkbox if you want the item available immediately, for example. Workaround available. Change the Display After date to either today or an earlier date. Though Blackboard doesn't save the checkbox setting change, it does save the date setting change. Contact OIT Help Desk Low Removing from the course roster, a person with Instructor role In this version of Blackboard, instructors can not remove other instructors from a class roster. The only workaround is to contact the OIT Help Desk to remove the instructor on your behalf. Resolved Low Load and Approve Grades link The Load and Approve Grades link within the Control Panel is not found. This link should go to STORM. Use the following URL in your browser instead: https://www.siss.duke.edu/Staff
Resolved Low Export Official Grades: Running Total and Running Weighted Total
Using Export Official Grades to export either the Running Total or Running Weighted Total columns for STORM results in a completely innaccurate set of grades.
Using the Download Grades button in the Gradebook, export grades as a comma delmited (.csv) file, which can then be used for uploading to STORM. Workaround Available (see notes) Low Error accessing, modifying or deleting individually copied assignments Blackboard does not allow assignments to be copied without copying the whole course, because they are no longer associated with the gradebook afterwards, but a folder containing an assignment can be copied, which results in errors. A new assignment must be created within the new course. The old assignment may be hidden. From the folder, go to Edit View -> Adaptive Release. Select the Display After and Display Until checkboxes and specify dates at least a year in the future. Click submit.
