Request a Blackboard Organization Site
Why should I consider using an Organization site?
The Organization site is a feature in Blackboard that allows members of campus groups with a common goal related to teaching, research, or administration to communicate and collaborate online similarly to using a Blackboard Course site. For example, Organization members can share documents, discuss topics, etc.Who is eligible to request an Organization site?
Duke full time staff or faculty are able to request an Organization site. One of the "leaders" of an Organization site must be full-time staff or faculty.
How to request an Organization site?
Until we create a specific organization request form, you should use the "Request a Course" form at http://blackboard.duke.edu/forms/reqsiteform.do [NetID required]
When you fill in the form, do not leave required fields (designated *) blank. You should make up "Course Number and Suffix" and "Course Section", put an Organization title in Course Title field, and select a term.
Can non-Duke affiliates be members of the Organization site?

Access to Blackboard:
All Duke students and faculty are automatically given Blackboard accounts. Duke staff are not automatically provided accounts but can get one by contacting the OIT Help Desk. Non-Duke personnel may be given a Blackboard account if they have a legitimate need to access a Duke Blackboard site due to participation in a Duke-sponsored activity or course, and are authorized by Duke faculty, staff or a student who has the role of "instructor" in a course site or "leader" in an Organization site. These accounts are created by the OIT Help Desk. Guests may access Duke's Blackboard system by logging in as guest/guest (or using their usual Blackboard login), and will be able to view guest-accessible portions of courses and organizations. Access other than the above is not allowed.
Who will be responsible for enrolling users of the Organization?
The person who is assigned as an Organization "leader" will be responsible for enrolling users of the site.
